Who is RUMIA?
Rumia Owaisi is a Registered Social Worker and PhD student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, with a focus on Muslim mental health. As someone who understands the unique challenges faced by Muslim women—whether navigating school, relationships, identity, or personal growth—Rumia offers a supportive and relatable space for young women at all stages of life. She has completed a diploma in Islamic Psychology through Cambridge Muslim College and is currently under clinical supervision for full certification in Traditional Islamically-Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP) with Khalil Center. Her work combines professional training with a deep respect for Islamic values, creating space for honest conversations grounded in faith and compassion. Who is Humza?
Humza Ali is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), guidance counsellor, and community leader who supports individuals and families in navigating life’s challenges. He works with people who feel stuck in their habits, relationships, or sense of direction, helping them build emotional resilience, recognize unhelpful patterns, and take steady steps toward meaningful change. His approach is authentic and collaborative, blending practical strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with deeper emotional work from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). For Muslim men in particular, he provides a supportive space to explore questions of faith, identity, and purpose in a way that is sincere and non-judgmental. Alongside his clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Humza serves as a guidance counsellor at Dar al-Burhan and has experience in community leadership and spiritual care. He draws on both professional training and lived experience to support the emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being of those he works with. |

Saad Khalid is a Registered Social Worker and psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals find healing through reflection, growth, and meaningful change. He holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and brings over a decade of lived and professional experience working with individuals facing personal, societal, and spiritual challenges. His practice is deeply informed by a commitment to ethical care, cultural humility, and social justice. Saad specializes in working with youth and young adults, particularly Muslim men, as well as clients navigating identity, trauma, or life transitions. His therapeutic approach integrates faith-based insights, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based modalities to foster safety, dignity, and long-term resilience. As someone who has walked a complex path of self-reckoning and accountability, Saad brings an unmatched level of empathy, non-judgment, and insight to his work. His journey of transformation and service allows him to meet clients where they are—with sincerity, strength, and compassion. |
